Editorial Standards

CasinosPlayed is editorially independent from the casinos we review, even though we earn affiliate commissions from some of them. This page explains how we maintain that independence, what our review process looks like, and how we handle corrections.

Editorial independence

No operator or slot studio has paid for coverage, a favourable review, or any form of editorial influence. Our rankings and verdicts reflect our honest assessment. We turn down editorial input from brands that ask for it, and we publish critical coverage of brands we earn commissions from.

How we review slot providers and games

Every provider and slot review on this site is written after we have:

1. Played the studio's signature titles ourselves, in demo and for real money
2. Read the paytable and game rules for the default RTP, volatility rating and max win
3. Compared the studio default RTP with the reduced configurations operators are allowed to run
4. Checked hit frequency, bonus buy pricing and feature trigger maths where published
5. Confirmed the studio's testing labs and licence coverage (eCOGRA, GLI, iTech Labs, MGA, UKGC)

How we review casinos

Casino reviews additionally require:

1. Opening a real account and completing whatever verification the operator requires
2. Depositing and withdrawing in at least one cryptocurrency, and timing both
3. Reading the bonus terms in full — wagering requirement, max bet, game weighting, expiry
4. Checking the licence on the regulator's own register, not just the site footer

How we score

Factchecking

Every factual claim is sourced. RTP and max win figures come from the studio's own paytable or certification sheet, not from aggregator sites. Legal claims in our country guides cite the statute or the regulator. Where we describe a feature, we have verified it in the product.

We use AI tools in research, drafting and translation, but every published page is reviewed and edited by a human before it goes live.

Corrections policy

If we get something wrong, we fix it. Material corrections are noted at the bottom of the affected page with a date. Minor typo fixes do not get correction notes.

Updates and freshness

Operators change bonus terms, studios reconfigure RTP and governments rewrite gambling law. We review every review and country guide at least quarterly and update anything that has gone stale. Each page carries a "Last updated" date at the top.

Responsible coverage

We write about products that lose money for most people who use them. We do not romanticise big wins, sell systems, or frame gambling as income. Every review states the house edge plainly and every page carries an 18+ reminder and links to support services.
